~ ABOUT THE PROGRAM ~

Birds that are surrendered to us are often given up by people who truly love their bird, but circumstances had forced them to part with their pets. Our organization has had many birds dropped at the door with the owner upset, crying and pleading, "Just find him a good home. I can’t keep him anymore." In most cases the cage and bird were in almost new condition and came with accessories.

We do not breed, buy, or sell parrots! Our primary goal is to provide a second chance for companion parrots. We will work to rehabilitate birds that have behavior issues. We feel that all feathered family members deserve a second chance to find a home and a loving family to join.

Finding a new home for these special birds involves very careful screening of potential families. These birds have suffered rejection at least once in their lives and we want to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Adopting a bird involves a commitment by the owner for many years -- often decades. Unlike dogs and cats, birds have long lives. People wouldn't like being shipped from home to home and neither does a bird. Every living being deserves consistency and security. We want to be sure that the new owner understands the needs of a bird and the responsibility of owning a bird and has sufficient time, space, and funds to care for and provide a happy and loving home, and has a family situation that will ensure the bird is wanted in the future.

Each home is carefully screened and investigated in person to help assure that each placement is well-suited and as smooth as possible. No bird is adopted to a person it shows an obvious dislike for birds, and no person is allowed to adopt a bird before completing placement visits and screening in order to ensure each bird is placed in the right home.
